Another officer down…

In the states, anyone driving at an officer would be shot dead…here they are politely arrested…lol

Any takers for the length of sentence?

Hope they recover quick enough to avoid half pay….

Afternoon Shij glad you are ‘back in the green’.

Is it carbon monoxide or has everyone died?

Firstly I wish the officers a speedy recovery. Secondly it will be interesting to see what the Spineless CPS bounce the charges down to.

  4. Spineless CPS and a piss poor court system with bugger all power at their disposal.

I often hear complaints like that but you know sometimes the fault does lay with the investigating officers. Two trials so far this week the score is 1 all. In both there could and should have been more attention to detail. In the first one which I won, there had been no investigation at all. A statement had been taken but nothing done to provide the evidence, if the allegation had been correct there very definitely would have been an audit trail but no one bothered to try and find it. In the second where I scraped home in second place, again there were two pieces of evidence which should have been secured but were not and the prosecutor was unable to rely on them. I dont think that the CPS are spineless, the court system is probably the fairest in the world and sufficient powers of punishment do exist.

  6. HM Chief Inspector of Constabulary, “… reports to Parliament on the efficiency and effectiveness of police forces in England and Wales…”

Yet their silence in relation to how front-line police officers are trained, equipped and supported in dealing with criminal attempts on their lives like this, is deafening.

  7. BE, I don’t necessarily disagree that cases go to court with basics missing but I do think the court’s sentencing powers are weaker than they should be and we all know the CPS often lack much in the way of, well, balls.

^^^or they just accept a plea bargain rather than risk losing a stone bonker case lest it affects their targets.

There are always risks involved in pressing on because you think you have a stone bonker of a case. In my experience the distinction is rarely clear.

But we are getting away from the facts which are that cases are coming before the courts with insufficient investigation having been done. That makes my job a whole lot easier but since I relish a challenge couldn’t you guys at least cover the basics?
