West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner Bob Jones has criticised the posts, saying they have done nothing for police accountability.The comments come a year on since the directly elected PCCs took up their jobs across England and Wales.He said £100m had been “spent so far on making police accountability less effective”.In a statement, Police Minister Damian Green said Mr Jones’s claims had “no basis in fact”.

Meanwhile, in Norfolk, they have had their own squall over travelling expenses claimed by their PCC.
Stephen Bett came under fire after he was found to have claimed for 70 trips from his home in Thornham to his HQ 43 miles away in Wymondham from November 2012 to August 2013.
Mr Bett racked up a £3,024 bill for the trips, with critics saying he should not have been claiming back the money for journeys to his place of work.
But he reacted by saying he will pay back the money so as not to tarnish the reputation of Norfolk policing

So ‘Sir’ Tom Winsor properly paid his respects to the fallen yesterday. I know to some I may seem churlish, but I still believe personally that he would have been better served and appreciated, had he done so dressed in appropriate civilian clothes and not his ‘dressing up pseudo police outfit’. I have known too many officers, now gone, who paid dearly to wear police uniform and I would not have the least one of them belittled by it being worn inappropriately.

The politicians and political appointees do not lay the wreaths for the fallen sailors, soldiers and airmen, that is, very properly, left to the professional heads of their services, so it should be for police………….., but if Winsor really had to do it, then a smart dark suit would have filled the bill properly and not made my blood boil.
SP, have been told about a Police Officer being so angry at Tom Winsor’s wearing of his ‘ceremonial’ uniform at the Cenotaph that he has sent him a copy of “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” with an explanatory letter. Others are apparently printing off posters of the film and sending them. If this catches on, the Post Office could make even more profit this year.
I was at The Cenotaph myself and watched a number of friends and colleagues take part in the march past with dignity and pride, while I remembered absent friends. Winsor’s is a fancy dress costume, nothing more, nothing less. He makes my fucking teeth itch.

Police Commissioner plans to raise funds through sponsorship
Police cars, uniforms and equipment could carry sponsors’ logos to raise money for the force under a plan unveiled by Police Crime Commissioner David Lloyd.
The idea for businesses to advertise through the force and even have products officially endorsed by Hertfordshire Constabulary was first proposed in Mr Lloyd’s Police and Crime Plan.
In the plan, Mr Lloyd writes: “The strong commercial brands based in, or operating within Hertfordshire may see business sense in collaborating with me on a range of direct sponsorship and corporate responsibility ventures.

Gadget and others were continually saying this, I wrote about it myself in an article as long ago as 2006 and even then it was old news.
But tell me do, who actually has the last word regarding crime classification and who produces these stats and publishes them?
It certainly isn’t the copper on the streets, such number as there are these days. Those who benefit from cooking the books can usually be found in nice warm offices doing their master’s bidding. It is those who have to justify their own actions to keep their positions, that juggle the figures. The officer up to his neck in crap, is hardly thinking about stats whilst he is dealing with the flotsam of life.
But just watch and wait and see where the blame will come to rest and who will be called on to be responsible.
It won’t be anyone above superintendent or anyone warming his arse in the Palace of Westminster’s committee rooms.

It’s not just crime figures, it’s every measurable stat, arrests, prisoners, workload etc. All are being used/bet/distorted and blatantly lied about to justify ‘austerity’ measures and cuts to staffing at the sharp end.
Minimum staffing levels are the norm, but the workload and expectations are higher. but I still don’t see a decrease in the numbers of those wearing crisp white shirts and I don’t see them skipping lunch every day to keep the wheel 0n.
it really has come to the point where those that can, DO and those that can’t, LEAD (from behind a desk and by e-mail)
