So Bill Bratten may get his chance to be a chief constable of the Met after all…
Under new radical plans from kittens PCC will be able to hire US gaffer…
Lol
Not that bill is not talented but he hasn’t got a chance…
He wouldn’t last a week…too practical, pragmatic and unable to swallow bull…the exact opposite qualities required to be a CC…

Would be very interesting to see-
1, how much they will pay these people to come from abroad and up root there families to the UK
2, what constraints they place on them ie don’t take about increasing wages ( Braton in NYPD and the LAPD) don’t critises the legal system etc.
3, lastly how soon before they say you can’t have zero tolerance because the prisons are full and crime is down ( not true but Tory spin)
Plus seen to recall Bratton saying May had no idea what she was doing.
If they really want to open up the talent pool reform the lefty politically correct promotion system, start promoting real coppers not toy town political puppets, realise a degree in English Lit is useless to copper and promote on real policing ability not whoever read the latest management spun book or new the most buzz words.
I love the way they use Bratten as some shining example. he generally moves in sacks the senior management, hires more cops and leaves after a short period when the stats stack up favourably having determined what and how the police under his control deal with. So no Home Office diktats and politically expedient knee jerk reaction policies to follow and stats to manufacture then. He would walk away within 3 months. As for Army officers, killing insurgents and putting on pretty parades for royalty are rather easy pieces of work compared to demand driven policing with regular political interference and ever shrinking budgets.
This government are a joke intent on forcing their ideology of the free market into policing.
The real losers will be the public.
Who in the private sector would be stupid enough to have the responsibility of a supernintendo on the pay they receive? It certainly won’t attract the ‘brightest & best’.
