What is ‘robust Policing’?

Not sure what the Home Secretary means when she says she wants us to ‘police robustly’…

I suspect that the Tomlinson and Smellie cases have effectively ended robust Policing…that and the IPCC’s ability to make dog’s dinners of almost all investigations…

The problem with ANY injuries (god forbid-serious injuries) is that they immediately muddy the water as far as CPS are concerned…

The villains know this and always put complaints in against the officers involved.

This is what the villains have been working towards for years, Police that are scared to enter areas and enforce minor laws… I know of areas in my force where ‘unofficial’ standing orders are not to enforce parking regs and other construction and use offences you and I would be done for…

This creates bad feeling and…sends the message ‘you are above the law’ to the villains…

We are reaping the rewards of this cowardice across the country on a daily basis.

ACPO ranks, chosen because of their subservience to the politicians that are at the core of the above policy.

In some ways the Home Sec is right: we need internal change but… it’s at the wrong end at the moment… it’s ACPO that need to go…

  1. Robust policing is the opposite of ‘robot’ policing, I would imagine, or at least hope.

You are probably right about the control and influence ACPO, as a ‘body’ have over the way things are done, or have been done for too long. I hold firm to the opinion that there are some good guys within ACPO. They cannot ALL be totally selfish people who are the ‘enemy’ of policing. Surely?

Hopefully; that refers to the beverage made from the beans of “Coffea Robusta” – and she has decided SMTs should ‘Wake up and smell the coffee’ –
